CLA Space Study 2022

In summer 2022, the College of Liberal Arts began a Space Study as part of  Purdue’s Future of Work initiative, working in partnership with Administrative Operations. Consultants  Workshop Architects and  MSKTD & Associates will lead the study. This activity is in response to an April 2022 Board of Trustee request to study a potential future project that would address the condition of University Hall and Heavilon Hall using the Future of Work concepts.

The oldest building on campus, University Hall was last renovated in the middle of the 20 th century. The study will consider options for restoring the building and better meeting the needs of the College and the University. The campus  Giant Leaps Master Plan calls for the future demolition of Heavilon Hall. The study will consider options for relocating faculty, staff, and graduate students who currently occupy the building.

The study will consider the appropriate footprint for each of its academic and administrative units. Under the direction of the Dean, space allocations will be set to accommodate current and anticipated staffing and to align with campus space guidelines as they relate to job classification and work modality (in-person, remote, or hybrid) to provide faculty, staff, graduate, and undergraduate students with spaces appropriate to new ways of learning and working at Purdue.
