First-Generation Student Symposium

On Thursday, January 30th from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm, the Division of Diversity and Inclusion, Student Success Programs and the College of Liberal Arts will host the inaugural First-Generation Student Symposium.
The symposium focuses on enhancing the experience and supporting Purdue’s trailblazing 6,968 first-generation undergraduate students. The purpose of the symposium is to highlight the assets and strengths associated with first-generation students and to provide a snapshot of the data surrounding first-generation student success. Participants will have the opportunity to give input on the development of inclusive and equitable policies and practices for first-generation students.
The keynote speaker is Dr. Sarah Whitley, Senior Director of NASPA’s Center for First-Generation Student Success.
This symposium is one of many activities that will support the University’s vision of maximizing the potential of all students that was first articulated in the Provost Roadmap for Transformative Undergraduate Education.
