Purdue-Google AI Summit
Assistant Professor of Technology Policy Daniel Schiff moderated the "Uniting Education, Business and Government" panel at the AI Summit hosted by Purdue and Google. Panel members Dr. Meghan Sullivan (Wilsey Family College Professor of Philosophy at Notre Dame, Director of the Notre Dame Institute for Ethics and the Common Good), Ted Cotterill (Indiana Chief Privacy Officer and General Counsel for the Indiana Management Performance Hub), and Dr. Daniel Whitenack (CEO of Prediction Guard, co-host Practical AI Podcast) focused on the real-world implementation of ethical frameworks in AI. They addressed the challenges of creating and maintaining AI ethics and privacy initiatives, managing the complexities of AI regulation and governance under conditions of dynamism and uncertainty, and fostering effective interdisciplinary collaborations and organizational adaptation. Additionally, the panel explored practical strategies for smaller organizations and government bodies to adopt robust privacy and ethical practices in order to better mitigate risks and maximize the benefits of AI integration.
The Purdue-Google AI Summit brought together more than 300 leading representatives from business and industry, government and nonprofits, along with university researchers and students, to explore the evolution of artificial intelligence and its profound impacts on workforce development and education.
