Boilers Go to D.C. Summer Scholars Internship Program

Spend summer 2025 in Washington, D.C., the epicenter of policy and innovation. Earn academic credit with an internship in government, non-profit, or private sector. Enjoy professional development training. Receive career readiness one-on-one mentoring with Purdue D.C. Alumni.

Students selected for the program will enroll and participate in the Boilers Go to D.C. Summer Scholars Internship Program and fulfill the course requirements. Students will spend the summer semester interning in their area of political science study or career focus.

Summer Semester For-Credit Course

  • Earn course credit while you learn​
  • 9-weeks to live and learn in Washington, D.C.​
  • No pre-requisites

Students are required to secure an in-person summer internship that will take place in the Washington, D.C. area and provide written confirmation of internship employment by April 15, 2025. 

 

Boilers Go to D.C. Fellowship Funding

The Political Science D.C. Fellowship program offers you the opportunity to LIVE, LEARN, and INTERN in Washington D.C.


The Political Science D.C. Fellowship will provide students with a stipend for living expenses and housing through the Boilers Go to D.C. Summer Scholars Internship Program for the duration of their summer internship and career readiness training with alumni mentoring before and during their internships. The program will culminate with a creative “capstone” project developed by the student that includes the knowledge and skills gained during their internship.

Fellowship Funding Applications are due by November 4

Students must accept and confirm in writing an in-person internship in Washington, D.C. by April 15, 2025.

Job-Ready Summer Internship Award

 Some internships are unpaid, which can be a barrier.  Purdue’s College of Liberal Arts offers Job-Ready Internship Awards to make unpaid or low-paid internships a viable option. Students can apply for up to $2,000 in financial support to help cover basics costs incurred while interning.  Eligible internship sites include not-for-profit organizations, government agencies, social enterprises, and for-profit companies.
