"Doll of Kabuli Woman This outfit, with its chadri, trousers and full skirt was typical of the Kabul area, and was worn in a variety of color combinations. Covered by a Chadri, the traditional veil in Afghanistan. The Chadri is not attached, and its wearing became optional in 1960. Wearing a chadri that completely covers the body and leaves only a cloth mesh in front of the eyes became compulsory when the Taliban gained control in 1996."
