Cultural/Historical Context
"Silver Khan’s Belt with niello and blue enamel decorations on fabric and leather. Niello is a black alloy of silver, copper, lead, and sulfur. The decorated metal piece is engraved or etched with a design. The recesses are filled with the ground alloy which is melted into the depression. Traditionally, other than a simple ring, males did not wear jewelry unless it was of a utilitarian nature. Iron loops incorporated into the design of the belt were used to attach a knife and other weapons and tools."
