Honey Lee Cottrell

Honey Lee Cottrell was born in Astoria, Oregon, in 1946, and grew up in Michigan. She moved to San Francisco with her first lover in 1966 and never moved away. In 1981, Honey Lee received a BA in film studies from San Francisco State University. She was director and camera for Sweet Dreams (National Sex Forum, 1980), and camera operator for Fatale Video.

She has been photographing her lovers and friends for over twenty-five years with her first camera, a 35 mm Nikkormat. Her exhibitions include shows at 848 Community Space in San Francisco, the Bacchanal in Albany, California, The Gay and Lesbian History Society of Northern California, The Park Bench Café in San Francisco, and at the NAME gallery in Chicago. Her still photography has appeared in many publications including On Our Backs where she was contributing photographer for seven years.
