Our program is based on a cohort model, and students applying to our on-campus, residential program will only be considered and admitted for the fall semester.\u00a0<strong style=\"font-size: 19px\"><b><u>\u00a0Complete applications received by October 15 will receive full consideration<\/u><\/b>. <\/strong>Applications submitted and completed after October 15 may not receive full consideration.<\/p>\n<h4>Overview of Application Requirements<\/h4>\n<p>Both the Brian Lamb School of Communication and the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/gradschool\/admissions\/how-to-apply\/index.html?_ga=2.268184974.1009294164.1655825704-1658576038.1649864783#RL\">Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Scholars (OGSPS) <\/a><\/strong>have a number of documents required for a complete application.<\/p>\n<p>The Lamb School requires:<\/p>\n<ol type=\"circle\">\n<li>Statement of Purpose<\/li>\n<li>TOEFL Scores (International Applicants)<\/li>\n<li>Three Letters of Recommendation<\/li>\n<li>A Sample of Scholarly Writing<\/li>\n<li>Additional Supporting Materials\u00a0(at the applicant&#8217;s discretion)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Scholars (OGSPS) requires:<\/p>\n<ol type=\"circle\">\n<li>Official Transcripts<\/li>\n<li>Purdue University OGSPS Application<\/li>\n<li>Application Fee<\/li>\n<li>TOEFL Scores\u00a0(International Students)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Details of School Requirements<\/h2>\n<ol type=\"disc\">\n<li><a class=\"anchorGlyph\" name=\"statement_of_purpose\"><\/a><strong>Statement of Purpose<br \/><\/strong>Submit a statement of approximately 300-500 words concerning your purpose for undertaking or continuing graduate study, your reasons for wanting to study at Purdue, and your professional plans, career goals, and research interests. You also may explain any irregularities or special circumstances applicable to your background and elaborate on your special abilities, awards, achievements, scholarly publications, and\/or professional history. The statement of purpose is important because it helps us see alignment between your academic goals with the expertise of our faculty.<\/li>\n<li><a id=\"TOEFL\"><\/a><strong>TOEFL Scores (International Applicants)<\/strong>\n<p>Forward TOEFL scores to the Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Scholars (OGSPS). To be considered for admission into the graduate program, non-native, English-speaking applicants must achieve a TOEFL score (for exams taken after Jan. 21, 2026) of 5.0 Speaking, 4 Reading, 3.5 Listening, and 4 Writing.\u00a0 The score must be documented by an official report from ETS and must be no more than two years old at the time the application credentials are reviewed in the Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Scholars (OGSPS). IELTS with a speaking score of 7.5 or higher will be accepted by the school. Only official TOEFL scores received directly from ETS are acceptable. All TOEFL scores should be sent to us from ETS as follows:\u00a0<strong>Institution code 1631. <\/strong>TOEFL is\u00a0<strong>required<\/strong>\u00a0of all applicants from\u00a0<strong>non-English speaking countries<\/strong>. Even if a previous degree was earned in the U.S. the TOEFL (or IELTS) is\u00a0<strong>STILL<\/strong>\u00a0required. <strong>The Lamb School <u>does not<\/u> accept Duolingo scores.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"anchorGlyph\" name=\"Letters_of_Recommendation\"><\/a><strong>Three Letters of Recommendation<br \/><\/strong>Letters of recommendation should be solicited from individuals qualified to judge the student&#8217;s academic merit and potential. The Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Scholars (OGSPS) provides an electronic means of recommendation submission as well as an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/gradschool\/admissions\/how-to-apply\/apply-recommendation.html#RL\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">optional form for paper submission<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"anchorGlyph\" name=\"Writing_Sample\"><\/a><strong>A Sample of Scholarly Writing<br \/><\/strong>For master&#8217;s students, this could be your best paper at the undergraduate level; for doctoral students, this could be your thesis or other academic paper sample.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"anchorGlyph\" name=\"Supporting_Materials\"><\/a><strong>Additional Supporting Materials<br \/><\/strong>Additional supporting materials (such as other test scores or supporting written materials) at the applicant&#8217;s initiative.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><strong>Details of Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars (OGSPS) Requirements<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ol type=\"disc\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/gradapply.purdue.edu\/apply\/\"><strong>Purdue University Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Scholars (OGSPS) Application<\/strong><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/app.applyyourself.com\/AYApplicantLogin\/ApplicantConnectLogin.asp?id=purduegrad\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><br \/><\/strong><\/a>Please complete an online OGSPS application. The statement of purpose may be used both for the University graduate submission, as well as for the School of Communication.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Transcripts<br \/><\/strong>Official transcripts should reflect receipt of undergraduate degree (or master&#8217;s degree if applying for the doctoral program). International applicants should submit official, original-language transcripts and certified English translation transcripts. All international applicants must submit a photocopy of all of their degree diplomas.\u00a0Median undergraduate GPA for admitted students is 3.7 (4-point scale). Recognize that these are medians.
