The Center for C-SPAN Scholarship & Engagement (CCSE) in the Brian Lamb School of Communication at Purdue University is pleased to announce the formation of an Editorial Board for the\u00a0Year in C-SPAN Archives Research<\/em>\u00a0series published annually by the Purdue University Press.<\/span><\/p>\n The editorial board will assist\u00a0Robert X Browning, Ph.D.<\/strong>\u00a0in selecting and editing papers for the annual volume.\u00a0Dr. Browning, a Professor of Political Science and Communication at Purdue University, is the Faculty Director of the CCSE and the Executive Director of the C-SPAN Archives.<\/span><\/p>\n The inaugural board is comprised of the following scholars:<\/span><\/p>\n Matthew Bergbower, Ph.D.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0\u2013 Department Chair and Professor, Department of Political Science at Indiana State University.<\/span><\/p>\n Research: state politics, campaigns, voting behavior and voting in statewide campaigns<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Porismita Borah, Ph.D.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0\u2013 Associate Professor, Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University and Editor-in-Chief,\u00a0International Journal of Public Opinion Research.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n Research: message effects in digital environments in the context of both politics and health<\/span><\/p>\n Nadia Brown, Ph.D.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0\u2013 Professor of Government and Director of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program and Affiliate in the African American Studies program at Georgetown University and Lead Editor of\u00a0Politics, Groups and Identities.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n Research: identity politics, legislative studies, Black women’s, the intersectionality of race and gender, political behavior, representation, race and ethnicity politics, and gender politics<\/p>\n Kathryn Cramer Brownell, Ph.D.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0\u2013 Associate Professor, Department of History at Purdue University and Senior Editor,\u00a0Made By History<\/em>\u00a0at\u00a0The Washington Post.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n Research: American political history, the American presidency, and intersections of media, politics, and popular culture in modern America<\/span><\/p>\n Bryce Dietrich Ph.D.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0\u2013 Associate Professor, Department of Political Science at Purdue University and Research Scholar, Center for C-SPAN Scholarship & Engagement.<\/span><\/p>\n Research: analysis of non-traditional data sources such as audio (or speech) data and video data, non-verbal political behavior, descriptive representation and implicit gender\/racial bias<\/span><\/p>\n Jennifer Hoewe, Ph.D.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0\u2013 Associate Professor, Brian Lamb School of Communication at Purdue University and Director of the Media and Politics Research Group at Purdue.<\/span><\/p>\n Research: depiction of political issues and groups in media content, influence of media on consumers, and the intersection of political communication and media psychology<\/span><\/p>\n Alison Novak, Ph.D.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0\u2013 Associate Professor, Edelman College of Communication & Creative Arts at Rowan University.<\/span><\/p>\n Research: public engagement in policy advocacy campaigns and media, public policy, and politics<\/span><\/p>\n Terri Towner, Ph.D.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0\u2013 Professor, Political Science Department at Oakland University and Co-Editor-in-Chief at the\u00a0Journal of Information Technology and Politics<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n Research: American politics, public opinion, elections, voting behavior, quantitative methodology and the role of social media in campaigns and elections<\/span><\/p>\n The scholars selected to serve on the board represent a wide variety of expertise across research areas and will allow the CCSE to provide an annual repository for innovative research which focuses on using more than 275,000 hours of content including video, audio, and text available in the C-SPAN Video Library.<\/span><\/p>\n The\u00a0Year in C-SPAN Archives Research<\/em>\u00a0volumes contain research papers presented at the national CCSE Research Conference.\u00a0 At this conference, scholars gather to present papers and share innovations in research that utilize the C-SPAN Video Library on current or historical topics and to explore ideas in a wide variety of scholarly fields including communication, politics, sociology, and history.
