This research award is offered to eligible students at Purdue University West Lafayette campus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The selected Student Researcher will receive a $1000 award* for the project and the Faculty Mentor will receive an award of $250.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The student chosen for the award will work on the research project and be eligible for directed study credit. At the end of the project, the student must make a presentation on their research paper and work with the professor on exploring publishing opportunities for the paper.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The project must be completed and presented by April 15, 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Eligibility and Rules<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Student Researcher must:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student during the time that the research is conducted<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Work under the supervision of a College of Liberal Arts (CLA) faculty mentor to create and conduct original research and write the final paper<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Produce a finished research paper<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Present their research paper to an audience of scholars or in an appropriate classroom setting\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Research paper presentation should be approximately 15 minutes<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Examples of acceptable presentation opportunities include:\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Purdue Undergraduate Research Conference hosted by the Office of Undergraduate Research<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR)<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">CCSE Research Conference<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Midwest Political Science Association<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Political Science course (prior approval of CCSE Faculty Director required)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Explore publishing opportunities for the research paper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Submission Guidelines for Research Proposal<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The research proposal must include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">an abstract of proposed research not to exceed five pages\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">abstract must indicate how the C-SPAN Video Library will be used<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">undergraduate researcher\u2019s current resume<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">a letter of support from the faculty member addressed to Robert Browning, Faculty Director, Center for C-SPAN Scholarship &amp; Engagement at <a href=\"mailto:rxb@purdue.edu\"><span class=\"s2\">rxb@purdue.edu<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Completed research proposals must be sent to Robert Browning, Faculty Director at <a href=\"mailto:rxb@purdue.edu\"><span class=\"s2\">rxb@purdue.edu<\/span><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">All proposals must be submitted by December 1, 2023.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Selection will occur by December 15, 2023.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>About Professor David A. Caputo:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">David A. Caputo was a long-term member of the Purdue Political Science Department. He served as head of the department, dean of the College of Liberal Arts, and subsequently served as president of both Hunter College and Pace University. He is married to Alice M.
