Biography

Lane completed his Bachelor of Arts in Interpersonal Communication from Purdue University. During that time, Lane worked on research projects within the area of supportive communication. Now, he is a first year MA student and instructor at Purdue’s Brian Lamb School of Communication.

 

Research and Teaching

Lane’s current research is in emotional support seeking and provision in digitally-mediated contexts. For example, he had the privilege of working on a project that investigated how college students used memes to indirectly seek emotional support from a friend. In April of 2024, Lane was awarded the Bruce Kendall Award for Academic Excellence for the research he conducted alongside his undergraduate studies. Lane currently teaches COM 114, Fundaments of Speech.
