Darrell Carter, PhD., is a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at Purdue University. 
 
He is passionate about providing students with an engaging and personal education experience. He loves teaching and interacting with students. His areas of focus are international organizations, international political economy, and politics of East Asia. He also teaches additional topics such as U.S. government, foreign policy, intelligence agencies, and terrorism. Dr. Carter earned his PhD in political science from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, a master's degree from Iowa State University, and his bachelor's degree from University of California, Los Angeles. While at UCLA he attended and helped administrate multiple international Workshops on Arms Control and Security Improvements in the Middle East through the UC Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation. Before his academic career Dr. Carter served as an intelligence analyst in the U.S. Marine Corps. Darrell is originally from Montana, loves the Raiders and Star Wars, and enjoys reading, fly fishing, gaming, and horses. 
 
Dr. Carter is currently researching the effect of institutional design on the operation, failure, and replacement of international organizations. He is also examining the relationship between student stress and academic misconduct, particularly for non-paper exams, and how to improve student confidence and reduce cheating. Dr. Carter is also the communications director for APSA's Civic Engagement Section.
