David Western received his Ph.D. in political science from Brown University in 2008, where he specialized in political theory, peace and conflict resolution, and international relation.  He studies the possibilities of empathy and love in conflict resolution, particularly as presented by thinkers such as Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr., with a particular focus on the Northern Irish peace process.  He is completing a book manuscript entitled, Hands Across the Divide: The Hard Work of Empathy.  His office is BRNG 1161 and his email is dswester@purdue.edu.
