Biography:

Dyuti earned her BA (Hons) in Sociology from Miranda House, University of Delhi and her MA in Women’s studies from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Her doctoral work at the intersection of Organizational Communication, and Media, Technology, and Society (MTS) is advised by Dr. Jeremy Foote. She is a part of Community Data Science Collective and Dr Bryce Dietrich's  Purdue Computational Social Science Lab. Before joining the Lamb School, Dyuti worked as a researcher for five years across several organizations in the development sector in India.

Research and Teaching:

Research:
Dyuti’s research areas are situated along three interrelated tracks:

  1. a) The politics, tools, and moderation of online toxicity: Her current work on this track includes an experimental study aimed at forming a wider understanding of how different types of hate speech have different effects on users’ posting behavior.
  2. b) Online communities in the Global South: Her current work on this track is focused on an interview study of individuals who self-governed mutual aid mobilization using virtual means of communication during the COVID-19 pandemic in India. This project has been selected for presentation at the Association of Internet Researchers Annual Conference 2024.
  3. c) Computational communication research methods: She is interested in developing and practicing mixed-method research approaches combining computational and qualitative tools to provide rich insights combined with large-scale data analysis.
