Biography
Kristina Soric is an Assistant Professor of Spanish in the School of Languages and Cultures with a specialization in Contemporary Iberian Literatures and Cultures. Her current project is a comparative analysis of the literatures of the nineteenth-century Spanish and Portuguese empires, and examines the imperial ideologies and corresponding colonial practices that accompany their respective turns to the Antilles and Africa as new sources of wealth and prestige after the Age of Atlantic Revolutions.
Education
Kristina holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Iberian Literatures and Cultures from the Ohio State University’s Department of Spanish and Portuguese and a B.A. in Spanish and Psychology from the University of Toledo.
Experience
Before coming to Purdue, she taught undergraduate Spanish and Portuguese courses at OSU, as well as undergraduate English courses at the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha in Toledo, Spain.
Research Areas / Interests / Specialization
Her research interests include Iberian Studies and Luso-Hispanic relations, Transatlantic and Transnational Studies, and Spanish and Portuguese imperial discourse and memory.
