Biography:

Juan Pablo Loaiza-Ramírez holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in industrial engineering from Universidad Nacional de Colombia. When he moved to the U.S., he obtained a master’s degree in Communication at Purdue University, where he is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in organizational communication with a focus on environmental decision-making and artificial intelligence.

Research and Teaching:

Juan Pablo’s research interests lie at the intersection of communication, consumer behavior, and sustainability. His recent research focuses on the role of artificial intelligence recommendations in electric charging station selection. Other projects he has worked on investigate the role of protected values and comfort halo effects in the intention to adopt renewable energies or purchase companies’ products that embody green supply chain management practices. Juan Pablo employs quantitative methods such as experimental designs and surveys. At Purdue University, he has been involved in multiple NSF-funded projects, including the development of large-scale planning for electric vehicle public charging infrastructure (NSF2323732).

Juan Pablo has been an instructor of record for COM 320—Small Group Communication and a teaching assistant for COM 304—Quantitative Methods for Communication Research at Purdue University. He has also served as a teaching assistant for Research Methods at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Juan Pablo is part of the Communication and Cognition Lab and the College of Liberal Arts Research Academy (CLARA), working with Dr. Torsten Reimer on the interplay between communication and decision making.
