Violeta Kalnytska holds a master’s degree in ESL Teaching Methods and a PhD in English Language and Literature. A native Ukrainian speaker, she is proficient in English, German, and Spanish. She has served as an associate professor in the Department of Foreign Languages at Kharkiv National Medical University, Ukraine, for over 20 years, supervising academic work, teaching ESL/ESP/EAP, and translating and proofreading documents for academic and scientific purposes. Her professional experience also includes training medical professionals to develop the English language proficiency needed for effective communication with international peers and patients.
Currently at Purdue University, her research focuses on using AI tools to enhance ESL/EAP skills in Ukrainian wartime education, working with her hosting professor, Dr. Haiyan Li, and Dr. Lixia Cheng. Her research interests include second language acquisition, language education technologies, digital literacy and E-learning, intercultural communication in language education.
