Stacy M. Lindshield completed a Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology and a master’s degree in anthropology at Iowa State University, and a bachelor’s degree in anthropology at the University of Kansas. She joined Purdue’s faculty in 2017.

Lindshield is an anthropological primatologist who creates research on nonhuman primates to expand our understanding of the cultural, behavioral, and genetic diversity of humankind’s close-living relatives and to enhance environmental sustainability strategies through decolonizing practices. Her work intersects the domains of primate behavior and ecology, evolution by natural selection, and environmental sustainability.

Since 2005, she has studied wild primates by conducting field research in Sénégal and Costa Rica. Lindshield integrates laboratory approaches in her field studies by blending animal observational methods with lab-based nutrition and geospatial tools. Lindshield generated close to a million dollars in research grants.

Lindshield’s research is published in Evolutionary Anthropology and the official journal of the American Association of Biological Anthropologists, the American Journal of Biological Anthropology. In addition, her research is published in flagship journals for several professional primatology societies, including the American Journal of Primatology, International Journal of Primatology, and Folia Primatologica.
