Dr. Ashley Rose Kelly joins the College of Liberal Arts as an Assistant Professor in the Brian Lamb School of Communication. Prior to coming to Purdue, she earned her Ph.D. from North Carolina State University in Communication, Rhetoric, and Digital Media in 2014 and her M.A. at the University of Waterloo (Canada) in Rhetoric and Communication Design in 2010.
Kelly’s main areas of interest are in science studies and especially rhetorical studies of science and science communication. Specifically, she is interested in emerging genres of science communication, public participation in scientific research (citizen science), expertise and ethos in grassroots scientific research, and biohacking and hacker participation in scientific research.
She has published several articles and chapters on science and environmental communication, including in the journals Communication Monographs, Environmental Communication, and First Monday.
