Brian Kelly completed Ph.D., Master of Philosophy, and Master of Arts degrees in sociomedical sciences at Columbia University, as well as a B.A. in anthropology at Fordham University. He is director of Purdue’s Center for Research on Young People’s Health and serves as senior editor at Addiction and as co-editor of the American Sociological Association’s Journal of Health and Social Behavior.

A Purdue faculty member since 2006, Dr. Kelly was recognized as a University Faculty Scholar in 2014 and has won numerous fellowships, grants, and awards for his scholarship. His research interests include medical sociology, deviance, substance use, youth/youth cultures, sexuality/sexual health, and health policy.

He has authored or co-authored papers in sociology journals such as Journal of Health and Social Behavior, Social Science Research, Social Science & Medicine, Sociology of Health & Illness, and Sociological Quarterly, as well as public health journals such as the American Journal of Public Health, AIDS & Behavior, and Drug and Alcohol Dependence.
