The annual Art & Design Juried Undergraduate Exhibition is now on display at the Robert L. Ringel Gallery in Stewart Center, showcasing over fifty more pieces than last year's exhibition. This celebration highlights the achievements of Purdue’s Art & Design (A&D) students, providing them with a prominent platform for their work to be seen by hundreds daily.

“We're thrilled to showcase our students' work,” said Erika Kvam, Director & Head Curator of Purdue Galleries. Each piece in the exhibit was created during an A&D studio class, with faculty from each discipline juried, or judged, the entries (e.g., photography faculty for photographic works).

Kvam and a team of faculty volunteers set up the exhibition in just two-and-a-half days. “It’s a fun curatorial challenge,” Kvam said. “The works speak to each other in unexpected ways, with emerging themes and palettes.” This year, 209 pieces are displayed, up from 153 in 2024.

The Ringel Gallery's central location on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus ensures significant visibility, with numerous tours passing by daily. “Especially at this time of year, it's an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their work to potential Boilermakers,” Kvam noted.

An awards ceremony was held on February 27 at 5:30 p.m. in Fowler Hall. Kvam, who has been curating the exhibition since 2019, reflected, “I feel like a proud mother hen.”

Kvam believes the university’s arts culture is thriving. “Our artists are competing at a very high level,” she said.

The exhibition runs through March 14. Visitors and residents are encouraged to celebrate the hard work and dedication of A&D students.
