Advanced Quantitative and Qualitative Methodologies Faculty Cluster Hire Initiative

With support from Purdue University’s Provost’s Faculty Cluster Hire Program, the College of Liberal Arts collaborated with the College of Health and Human Sciences (HHS) on a cluster hire initiative of tenure-track faculty to expand campus-wide expertise in advanced quantitative and qualitative methods in social, behavioral, and health sciences.  As of Fall 2017, eight new faculty have been hired in our Colleges in conjunction with this initiative and join other faculty in our college with research and teaching interests in methods (click here).

The new hires in the College of Liberal Arts have joined one of the four CLA units participating in the Cluster initiative: The Department of Sociology, The Department of Anthropology, The Department of Political Science and the Brian Lamb School of Communication.    New hires in the College of Health and Human Sciences (HHS) have their home unit in one of the following: Department of Consumer Science, Department of Health and Kinesiology, School of Health Sciences, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Department of Human Development and Family Studies, School of Nursing, Department of Nutrition Science, Department of Psychological Sciences, or Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences.  Faculty hired under this cross-college initiative contribute to the research and teaching missions of the units in which they affiliate and collaborate with others within the cluster and across the University in interdisciplinary and extramurally funded research. The Cluster is working towards increasing collaborative opportunities and anticipates the development of a multi-college, shared graduate training platform, including a graduate certification program in advanced statistics and methodologies.
