What was the most exciting thing about your role?
The most exciting thing about my role was when I would write a press alert and send it out to the media. After doing this, I would see how the event was covered and what the media would say all because of my press alert.
What surprised you most about your internship?
I was most surprised by the amount of writing I did in my internship. I expected to conduct a lot of research, but rather, I wrote alerts, releases, and articles that were all used by the museum.
How did you apply your Liberal Arts skills to your internship position?
I applied my Liberal Arts skills to my position not only when I was writing but also communicating with the media and my coworkers. I was constantly in a professional environment.
How has your internship prepared you for your career?
My internship has prepared me for my career because it has taught me the PR department’s role in a company. The department is always prepared to release things to the media; specifically, in times of emergency situations. Also, it is crucial for the PR staff to form a healthy relationship with the media. With a good relationship, the media will reach out the company and the company can then reach out to the media. I learned more about my major in this internship. Lastly, I bettered my skills as a writer. I wrote many articles, press alerts, and press releases for the museum. I learned how to work on a deadline and take on the voice of the museum.
