Mark’s program of research centers on the sociological study of medicine and drug use at the intersections of health, culture, and deviance. Trends and experiences in marijuana prohibition, medicalization, and legalization is the focus of a current ethnographic research project.

Rebecca’s work focuses on the factors that shape students’ movement through educational institutions over time, examining the causes and consequences of students’ long-term postsecondary trajectories. As a postdoctoral fellow, her work additionally focuses on charter schools, examining how growth in the charter sector has shaped student attainment nationally over time and how parental involvement is enacted in these schools.
