Benjamin Broman is an assistant professor of Political Science and a faculty member of the Cornerstone Integrated Liberal Arts program. Broman received his Ph.D. from Duke University in 2024.
 
Broman’s research focuses on the origins and evolution of political and economic institutions, with a particular interest in how legitimacy or the intersection of religion and politics influence institutional change. He uses both formal theory and quantitative analysis of original historical data, with a geographic focus on the political and economic development of the British Isles. Additional projects relate to judicial institutions and indirect governance.
