Brian Kogelmann is an Associate Professor of Philosophy and Political Science at Purdue University. Before that he was an Assistant Professor in the John Chambers College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University and the Academic Director of the Kendrick Center for an Ethical Economy. And before that he was an Assistant Professor in the Philosophy Department at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he founded the major in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. He is also an Affiliated Fellow at the F.A. Hayek Program for Advanced Studies in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.
 
Brian works in social and political philosophy. He has published on a wide array of topics including liberalism, property rights, reparations, the methodology of the social sciences, Marx’s theory of false consciousness, the ethics of the U.S. Senate filibuster, and much more. His first book, Secret Government: The Pathologies of Publicity, is on transparency in government. He is currently working on a short monograph for Cambridge University Press on meritocracy and politics. Future projects include a book on economic growth and one on political parties.
