Ryan Funkhouser

Biography

Hailing from the beautiful Pacific Northwest, Ryan Funkhouser received his Master’s degree at Trinity Western University in British Columbia and is currently a PhD candidate within the organizational communication track in the Brian Lamb School of Communication at Purdue.

 

Research and Teaching

Ryan is a mixed methodologist who specializes in both computational and qualitative text analysis. His work explores communication’s role in bridging ideological divides. His work focuses on communication in both online contexts (with a particular emphasis on Reddit) communication’s role in peacebuilding and development contexts. His has also taught a wide range of classes at Purdue and his previous two institutions, including Presentational Speaking, Organizational Communication, and Small Group Communication
