Ignatius is a PhD student in history at Purdue University and a first-generation college student from Ghana. He has a broad range of academic interest in Nineteenth Century African-American history, with a special concentration on black soldiers in the Union army and black societies during the American Civil War.

Prior to Purdue University, Ignatius obtained his BA in history from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, where he served as a teaching assistant during the 2020–2021 academic year. Since that time, he has worked as a researcher for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, a memorialization agency established in the UK for fallen British Empire (now Commonwealth) soldiers from the two World Wars.

Ignatius will be working with Dr. Jonathan Lande as his advisor.
