Dr. Haiyan Li completed her Ph.D. in Literacy and Language Education at Purdue University and her dissertation received Mary Kay Sommers Award. She is a scholar-practitioner with extensive teaching experience across K–12, undergraduate, and graduate levels, and is actively engaged in research, program development, and teacher education. She was co-founder of an online education company that facilitated cultural-exchange initiatives, bringing hundreds of Chinese students to the United States between 2014 and 2017. Her research focuses on fostering bilingualism and biliteracy in multilingual classrooms, with specific interests in literacy curriculum design, instructional strategies for ELL/ESL learners, and the impact of professional development for educators working with linguistically diverse populations. She is the recipient of the Innovation Hub Award for her work on AI-integrated pedagogy and is currently mentoring a Ukraine visiting scholar to conduct research on AI-enhanced EFL online education. Her scholarship appears in leading journals, including TESOL Quarterly, Language Policy, and the Journal of Language, Identity & Education. She serves on the editorial board of the INTESOL Journal and is committed to advancing research-informed practices in language and literacy education.
