On December 6, 2024, Vanessa Sheu successfully defended her dissertation “Plausibility, prediction, and Mandarin garden-paths: online aural cue use in L1, L2, and heritage speakers”. She got interesting and challenging questions from the committee – Elaine Francis, Daniel Olson, Charles Lin, and Alejandro Cuza – and from other audience members. Later that evening, we celebrated Vanessa’s accomplishments with a party, including champagne, Thai food, and Yue’s homemade cheesecake. Congratulations, Dr. Vanessa Sheu! We are all so proud of you!
