Welcome, Dr. Shaohua Fang!

We are excited to welcome Dr. Shaohua Fang to Purdue! He arrived in May 2024 and is already involved in several projects with our lab members.

Dr. Fang is a Ross-Lynn Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of English. He earned his Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Pittsburgh in 2023. Prior to this, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Linguistics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Spring 2024. He was also a CIFLTE Fellow at Teachers College, Columbia University. His research interests lie in psycholinguistics and second language acquisition, employing a range of methodologies, including experimental and computational approaches. He has published on various topics such as L2 acquisition and processing of temporality, predictive processing in L2, scope phenomena, and experimental research methods. Additionally, he has experience teaching Linguistics and Psycholinguistics courses. At Purdue, he is collaborating with members of the ExLing lab, members of the Crow lab, and others, and he is continuing to expand his methodological toolkit.
