Fenggang Yang
Please join me in congratulating Professor Fenggang Yang, Professor of Sociolgy and Director of the Center on Religion and Chinese Society, who has received a grant of $3.5 million dollars from the John Templeton Foundation. Fenggang will be the Principal Investigator for “Chinese Religious Markets and Spiritual Capital: A Research and Field Development Initiative” that will begin in August. The three-year project, which partners with Chung Chi College, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, will map the religious landscape of China using GIS technologies and spatial statistics; assess spiritual capital in the emerging civil society; and establish a new journal where first-rate research can be published. Assistant Research Professor Jonathan Pettit from the Department of Sociology and Associate Director of the Center on Religion and Chinese Society is a co-PI on the project.
Congratulations Fenggang!
