Allen McCullough
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Allen McCullough, who received a grant made possible by the Indiana Art Commission’s Individual Artist Program and the National Endowment for the Arts for the composition of his 3rd String Quartet. Allen is a composer and lecturer in the Division of Music in the Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Visual and Performing Arts.
His newly composed piece will be performed by the Aeolus String Quartet, the 2013–2015 Graduate Resident String Quartet at the Juilliard School, at 7 PM on December 7, 2015, at Purdue’s Black Cultural Center.
To celebrate the piece, Allen will deliver a pre-concert lecture titled “Navigating Musical Modernism” at 6 PM. He has also organized an open rehearsal with the Aeolus Quartet at 5 PM so that students and the general public have an additional opportunity to watch this ensemble at work. The format is a Q&A with the quartet, who will play and address specific moments from the piece. All events take place at the BCC, and a reception will follow the concert.
The Purdue and Greater Lafayette communities are invited to this series of events celebrating Allen’s latest composition. Congratulations, Dr. McCullough!
