J. Jill Suitor
Please join me in congratulating Dr. J. Jill Suitor, professor of sociology, for her induction into the Sociological Research Association (SRA). She joins some of the world's most accomplished sociologists, who selected her as a member to honor her for her extensive research on interpersonal relationships and well-being. Jill is a prolific scholar, having published over 100 journal articles and book chapters. Her research has been supported by the National Institute on Aging, the National Institute on Mental Health, and the Spencer Foundation. In 2014, she received the Distinguished Career Contribution to Gerontology Award from the Gerontological Society of America. Since 2001, Jill has led the Within Family Differences Study, a panel investigating the causes and consequences of parental favoritism and disfavoritism in more than 550 families. Her research aims to achieve greater understanding of parent–adult child relations and well-being in aging families, and has been featured in The Boston Globe, The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Toronto Star, and the Daily Mail, as well as on Slate and National Public Radio.
Congratulations, Professor Suitor!
