Erin McConkey
Please join me in congratulating Erin McConkey, a student in anthropology, for co-authoring research published in the 2016 Journal of Purdue Undergraduate Research!
In "Doubling Grammars: Mandarin-English and Spanish- English Bilingual Children and the So-Called Auxiliary Inversion Conundrum", Erin and co-author Jennifer Hwang, a recent graduate from the College of Health and Human Sciences, explore how the natural acquisition of languages leads to the creation of multiple mental Grammars in multilingual children. In an increasingly multicultural society, understanding the process of multilingual acquisition is essential to building positive language ideologies. This is the only CLA full article-length contribution in the volume.
Again, let's congratulate Erin on her contribution to the undergraduate research community at Purdue University!
