T. Cole Jones
Please join me in congratulating T. Cole Jones, assistant professor in the Department of History for being appointed to the Advisory Council of Fort Ticonderoga.
The council is made up of distinguished historians from all over the United States. Because of Cole's expertise and leadership in early American history, he has been selected to be a part of an exciting effort to plan the building of a new, $40 million dollar major museum facility at Fort Ticonderoga. Fort Ticonderoga Museum founders Stephen H P Pell and Sarah Thompson Gibbs Pell envisioned Fort Ticonderoga to be the finest military history museum in America. Cole's addition to the Advisory Council exemplifies the continued efforts to provide exemplary history education to future generations through the fort's rich and turbulent history.
Last year, Cole completed a year-long, National Endowment of the Humanities fellowship at the New-York Historical Society. His book, Captives of Liberty: Prisoners of War and the Violence of the American Revolution, is under contract with the University of Pennsylvania Press. In addition to his current book project, Jones has published articles in the New England Quarterly, the Journal of the Early Republic, and Common-Place. His research has been supported by the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation, the United States Army Center of Military History, and the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington.
Congratulations again, Dr. Jones!
