Amber Nickell
Amber has also been awarded a Research and Training in Eastern Europe and Eurasia Fellowship by the U.S. State Department. This summer Amber will be studying Ukrainian at Indiana University.
Last summer she was awarded an Auschwitz Jewish Center Fellowship. As part of her fellowship, she worked with leading Holocaust scholars in Poland studying Jewish life before, during, and after the Holocaust. Amber was also invited to participate in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s 2016 seminar for early PhD students, “A Research Introduction to the Holocaust in the Soviet Union,” and she delivered a public lecture detailing her experiences at the USHMM as part of the Jewish Studies Noon Lecture Series.
Amber's major professor is Rebekah Klein-Pejsova, associate professor of history and Jewish studies.
