“Weapons from Germany? Parliament, Military Aid and Weapons Exports, 1961-1975” appeared in the journal Vierteljahrshefte für Zeitgeschichte. It traces efforts by the West German parliament to ban the sale of new and surplus weapons to third world countries during the Cold War. Will's findings were reported in a page one article in one of Germany’s leading newspapers, the Süddeutsche Zeitung.
Published in the larger work Oil Shock: The 1973 Crisis and Its Economic Legacy (London: I. B. Tauris), Will's "Learning to ‘Recycle': Petrodollars and the West, 1973-5’” examines how Western governments and institutions such as the IMF and OECD worked to redirect the vast flow of petrodollars that accrued to OPEC producers in the wake of 1973’s sudden quadrupling in oil prices.
"Paradoxes of Ostpolitik: Revisiting the Moscow and Warsaw Treaties, 1970,” appeared in the December 2016 issue of Central European History. It offers a revisionist look at the famous achievements of Chancellor Willy Brandt's Ostpolitik, arguing that the treaties were less successful than commonly thought in normalizing relations between West Germany and the Eastern Bloc.
