Douglas Hurt

Please join me in congratulating Douglas Hurt, professor and Head of the Department of History, for presenting the keynote address at the annual spring meeting of the British Agricultural History Society.

The title of Doug’s presentation, which he gave on March 28 at Bridgwater & Taunton College in Bridgwater, Somerset, England, was “The Green Revolution: Science, Politics, and Unintended Consequences.”

The paper is based upon his larger study of the history of the Green Revolution in food-deficit nations. Doug has written extensively on the subject, teaches the course History of United States Agriculture, and served as editor of Agricultural History from 1994-2003. In addition, he was director of the graduate program in agricultural history and rural studies at Iowa State University for 14 years before accepting a position at Purdue.

Congratulations, Professor Hurt!
