Leonard Harris
Please join me in congratulating Leonard Harris, professor of philosophy, for winning the Herbert W. Schneider Award from the Society for Advancement of American Philosophy.
The Schneider Award is the society’s highest award, recognizing recipients’ contributions to the understanding and development of American philosophy. Leonard received the award on March 10 at the SAAP’s annual conference in Indianapolis.
Among the Schneider Award’s previous winners is Purdue Professor Emerita Charlene Haddock Seigfried.
In addition to his extensive accomplishments as an international scholar and civil rights activist, Leonard has been a prominent Purdue faculty member since 1991. He served as director of the African American Studies and Research Center from 1991-97 and as director of the Philosophy and Literature PhD program from 2007-10.
Congratulations, Professor Harris!
