Patricia Thomas
Please join me in congratulating Patricia Thomas, assistant professor of sociology, for winning the 2018 Lorene Burkhart Award for Excellence in Research About Families.
A panel of reviewers from Purdue’s Center for Families selected Patricia as the winner for her paper, “Do Older Parents’ Relationships with Their Adult Children Affect Cognitive Limitations, and Does This Differ for Mothers and Fathers?”
The Burkhart Award, created in 2013, is given to a Purdue researcher who was lead author of a work that represented outstanding family research in the previous calendar year. Winners also receive a $500 prize.
Patti will officially receive the award at the Center for Families award breakfast on April 12 in the East Faculty Lounge at Purdue Memorial Union. In addition, the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research and Partnerships will recognize her at the Excellence in Research Awards dinner in the fall.
Congratulations, Dr. Thomas!
