Cheryl Cooky
Please join me in congratulating Cheryl Cooky, associate professor of American Studies and Women's Gender, and Sexuality Studies, for winning the 2019 Trailblazer Award from the Office of the Provost.
The annual award goes to mid-career faculty in the colleges of Liberal Arts, Education, Health and Human Sciences, and the Purdue University Libraries “whose recent research, scholarship, or creative work has made a significant impact in the disciplines of humanities, social sciences, and information sciences.” The review committee selected Cheryl because of her work on sports, gender, and equity, conducting a longitudinal study of media coverage of women’s sports and calling for a “public sociology of sport.”
The award comes with a plaque and a $2,000 prize. Winners of the award will be recognized at the Faculty Awards Convocation on May 7.
Congratulations, Dr. Cooky!
