Douglas Hurt
Please join me in congratulating Douglas Hurt, professor of history, for the publication of his latest book, Documents of the Dust Bowl (ABC-Clio, 2019).
The book examines one of the worst ecological disasters in U.S. history, when drought and wind erosion helped create the “Dust Bowl” region of the southern Great Plains. It uses public documents from the National Archives to outline the causes and consequences of the Dust Bowl and detail how residents endured the dust storms that haunted the region. It also analyzes conservation and farming techniques that remain in place in the Great Plains today.
Congratulations, Professor Hurt!
