Dana Tulodziecki
Please join me in congratulating Dana Tulodziecki, associate professor of philosophy, for winning a summer stipend from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
The NEH’s competitive summer stipend program provides small awards to support advanced humanities research and publication. The stipend program aims to support continuous full-time work on a humanities project for a period of two consecutive months. Dana will use the $6,000 stipend this summer to work toward a book, tentatively titled Scientific Progress without Truth.
In the book, Dana will explore what makes scientific theories successful since history shows that most of them turn out to be false. Her work will attempt “to develop a new notion of scientific progress – divorced from the traditional notion of truth – that is based on non-evidential features of actual scientific practice which, I argue, play a central role in contributing to our theories’ epistemic value,” she explained.
Congratulations, Dr. Tulodziecki!
