James Stratton

Please join me in congratulating James Stratton, SIS Ph.D. student in Linguistics and German Teaching Assistant, on being named the 2021 recipient of the Richard M. Hogg Prize for a paper on any research-related topic in English language or linguistics.

Stratton’s paper, titled “Where do wer go? Lexical variation and change in third-person male adult referents in Old and Middle English,” will be published on the International Society for the Linguistics of English website and will receive a £500 cash prize.

Stratton’s research interests include Germanic languages, including historical stages of English, as well as historical linguistics, language variation and change, and second language acquisition.
