Kenneth Ferraro

Please join me in congratulating Kenneth Ferraro, distinguished professor of sociology and director of the Center on Aging and Life Course, for being awarded this year’s Robert W. Kleemeier Award for his work in gerontology.

This national award is given annually to a member of The Gerontological Society of America in recognition for outstanding research in the field of gerontology. Ken has over 40 years of experience in this field, particularly in the studies of minority health, obesity and health, and lifelong consequences of early childhood hardships.

Ken is the founding director of the Center on Aging and Life Course, which is designed as a university-wide entity to strengthen interdisciplinary inquiry on aging, with aims to advance research in optimizing the aging experience of diverse populations and to prepare future leaders in the field of gerontology. CALC draws on expertise of faculty from more than 20 departments at Purdue University.

Congratulations, Professor Ferraro!
