Matt currently serves as a Press Secretary at the Indiana House of Representatives in Indianapolis, managing communications for eight state representatives. In his role, Matt drafts press releases, e-newsletters and media advisories while managing media relations, scheduling interviews and preparing talking points. He also contributes to the House blog and podcast, highlighting legislative achievements and updates.
Before his current role, Matt gained valuable experience interning for former Speaker Newt Gingrich at Gingrich 360, Congressman Jim Banks, the Indiana State Senate and the Indiana Republican Party, as well as participating in multiple state and national political campaigns.
Matt attributes many of the opportunities he has received to his dedication to networking and seeking out mentorship. From professors and colleagues at Purdue to experienced professionals in his internships, Matt learned the value of building relationships and learning from others' expertise. These connections have been instrumental in shaping his career and opening doors to new opportunities.
At Purdue, Matt was deeply involved in organizations such as the Center for C-SPAN Scholarship & Engagement Student Community, Pi Sigma Alpha, College Republicans and Purdue Student Government. These experiences helped shape his passion for public service and policy communication.
As an engaged Purdue alum, Matt continues to connect with fellow Boilermakers, supporting initiatives that foster the growth of the next generation of leaders. He is a proud advocate for the College of Liberal Arts and its commitment to producing well-rounded, forward-thinking graduates.
