Leading Ethically in the Age of AI and Big Data
A grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. allowed Purdue to become a national leader in the ethics of artificial intelligence (AI) and Big Data. By organizing a series of events and creating a Tech Ethics Video Series featuring leading experts on the ethics of AI and Big Data, Purdue’s College of Liberal Arts developed a blueprint for undergraduate professional ethics curricula that address the many ethical challenges presented by fast-evolving digital technologies. AI and Big Data belong among the greatest opportunities for human progress of our times – thanks to this project, Purdue was able to foster a community of faculty and industry leaders who will educate future business leaders on how to seize the potential of emerging technologies in an ethical and accountable way.
More details about the project can be found on this page.
Lilly Endowment also supported our sister grant at Indiana University "Ethics, Values, and Technology: Developing Character for a Digital World," the goal of which was to develop integrated initiatives to better equip students and faculty to confront and address ethical challenges presented by our digital world.
