Embodiment and Diversity: Sexuality, Race, Disability and Gender

This theme examines the ways that bodies are raced, gendered, sexualized and classed. It also examines the consequences of various embodied experiences. In our first Spring Research Symposium in 2012, we had a highly successful panel including presentations by Evelyn Blackwood, Pat Boling, and Lorraine Kisselburgh, moderated by Rebekah Klein-Pesejov. This first discussion raised themes of how embodied experience shapes identity, health, and relationships. We would like to continue this conversation with future events, such as an invited lecture or series of lectures on the topic of embodiment.
