Mark Aronson
United States Digital Corps Fellow, National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities, NIH
2x Mentor – BGDC Summer Scholars
Since the first time he saw a Punnett square, Mark Aronson has been fascinated with understanding the mathematical patterns in biological and human health systems. To build on his computational skill set, he then moved to the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Janelia Research Campus, where he developed a novel theory of cell similarity. After this stretch in basic science, his desire to use data science methods to improve the U.S. healthcare system led him to his current role as a United States Digital Corps Fellow at the National Institutes of Health, where he supports health disparities research on a cloud-based, big data platform. When not coding up a new model, Mark is probably going for a run along the Potomac or trying out a new way to prepare tofu.
